Mission

  • Make sure Imani always knows what stock it has, where it is, what condition it's in, what has moved, and what needs reordering.

First 30 / 90 / 180 Days

30 days
  • Receive and reconcile all stock by SKU, carton, batch and quantity against the packing list and invoices.
  • Create the warehouse layout, SKU labelling, stock card system and dispatch control template.
  • Identify damaged, short, over-supplied or mismatched stock and escalate variances immediately.
  • Put sample stock controls in place with Sales.
90 days
  • Run regular cycle counts and produce weekly stock reports for management.
  • Put in place delivery notes, dispatch approvals, a returns log and a damage and loss register.
  • Work with Accounts on inventory valuation and landed cost records.
  • Set reorder alerts from sales velocity and minimum stock levels.
180 days
  • Build warehouse and dispatch processes that scale for Uganda and future regional shipments.
  • Support regional stock allocation and sub-distributor dispatch controls.
  • Keep stock accuracy high and shrinkage low as volume grows.

Responsibilities

  • Receive imports and local supplies, checking carton and SKU counts, condition and batch details.
  • Organise the warehouse for fast picking, clear SKU separation and safe storage.
  • Keep carton labels, stock cards, batch and expiry information and count records up to date.
  • Prepare stock for deliveries from approved orders and delivery notes, and coordinate transport and handover documents.
  • Track returns, damages, missing items and delivery exceptions.
  • Run cycle counts, monthly stock counts and variance investigations.
  • Prepare weekly inventory reports: opening stock, receipts, dispatches, closing stock and variances.
  • Reconcile physical stock with accounting records alongside Accounts.
  • Write SOPs for receiving, storage, picking, dispatch, counts, returns and damages, and recommend reorder quantities and buffers.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years in warehouse, inventory, logistics or stock control in FMCG, distribution, import, wholesale or manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of physical and cycle counts, FIFO/FEFO, delivery notes, GRNs and stock reconciliation.
  • High numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience supervising warehouse assistants, casual workers or dispatch teams.
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets and simple inventory or ERP systems.
  • High integrity and strict accountability for stock.

Preferred Background

  • Handling imported goods, customs and packing lists, or multi-SKU FMCG stock.
  • Zoho Inventory, QuickBooks inventory, ERP systems or barcode workflows.
  • Storage requirements for household and personal-care goods.

  • Dispatch accuracy above 99%
  • Shrinkage and damage rate
  • Cycle count completion
  • Delivery note compliance
  • Inventory report timeliness
